Having Trouble Getting Hits on the Job Boards?

If you are having a hard time finding employment with sites like Monster, HotJobs and Careerbuilder, you are not alone. Job hunters are finding online job boards to be a frustrating experience. It leaves many people asking themselves, "Is it even worth the trouble?" The answer to this question is a resounding, YES.

Here is why. If you are a company looking for a new employee, where do you find them? Well, if you ask 10 companies that question, you will probably get 10 answers. Answers will range from posting an ad in the paper, to asking employees if they know anyone who may be interested. Some will look online and some will stick a sign in the front window. As a job hunter, your goal should be to be considered for as many available positions as you can. The best way to accomplish this is to "be everywhere." By that we mean, if you have the opportunity put your resume anywhere that a potential employer might see it, you should do it. You never know where the opportunities may arise.

Most experts will tell you that the key to a successful job hunt is activity. If you are unemployed, your new job is to find a job. Sure, it does not pay very well, but it is a job none-the-less. So get out there and make it happen. Post your resume on every job board you can find. Apply for every job that you can possibly qualify for. Take out your rolodex and start calling all your old business contacts. There is a job out there for you. You just have to find it.
